The thought of transparent mobile device has been lurking the mobile community for a while now. We’ve seen something like this in numerous sci-fi movies and tv programs. Good news! Polytron has created a functional prototype of this so-called toy.
Polytron, a Taiwan-based corporation has produced a mobile phone that is completely transparent with only the circuit board, memory card and camera unit is visible. The device will be touchscreen, with sensible SIM tray, SD card slot, microphone and camera. The cell phone is ready. Only, it does not have an operating system yet.
The technology used is called Polyvision Privacy Glass. It permits device to turn transparent when an electric current is passed through it. The device also boasts some microscopic wires that have been fed directly into the glass that make it barely visible to the naked eye. The same wire has been used in the glass strip of the Sony XPERIA Z, XPERIA P and XPERIA U.
Polytron plans to make the device available in the market by last quarter of 2013.
Looking forward to this Polytron!
